Is juicing bad for you?

In today’s time when obesity seems to be a worldwide problem and losing weight is the evident solution, different techniques and approach to do it emerges everywhere. There are the different diet programs, forms of exercises and lately, the juicing technique seem to take the world by storm.

The requirement of juicing is simple. You have to take away all the solid food you consume for a certain time period. In return, you intake will only be comprised of the different juices. Some do the juice recipe on their own, through the help of the juicer. Some are made easier. There are companies offering the prepared bottles of juices. You just have to drink each according to schedule.

Setting aside the fact that not all juices taste good, usually the best one tastes the worst, some fail to see the negative side of juicing. Not everyone gets to ask the question, is juicing bad for you? For some, juicing may work for cleansing and their goal to decrease weight. However, there are far more deeper reasons why juicing can be bad for you. Here are some reasons why juicing might not be good for you.

Juicing is not the entire solution for obesity. Contrary to expectation, juicing can lead to more weight. When one engages in juicing, the typical fiber intake from solid food is replaced by fiber from fruits and vegetable. While the fiber of the juice is lighter, one should not forget that sometimes, the sugar content of the fruits is higher. Even though fructose, or the sugar in fruits is said to be healthier, it is still counted as sugar. Obviously, an obese person does not need more sugar. While fiber in fruits aid in digestion, some cannot foresee a negative effect. Faster digestion arising from fiber intake tend to shoot up the processes inside our body. One of which is the sudden upsurge of the fructose in our body. Beyond normal fructose intake has its own adverse effects to the body. One of which is again, a case of unexpected weight gain.

Having less energy to sustain you everyday needs. Juicing disrupts your normal body intake of food. Obviously, less is taken during the juicing process. Take the analogy of a car and gasoline. A car deprived of its usual supply of gasoline can only do so much, it can reach distances less than its capability. Same as with human beings, lesser intake means lesser energy to sustain your current performance.

Another negative outcome of juicing is slowing down metabolism. Everyone dreams of having that faster metabolism with that of teen age kid. Unfortunately, this is gradually taken away as one ages. The body’s metabolism is dependent on the kind of solid and liquid intake. When one engages in juicing, one is obviously deprived to a certain extent. Not all people may realize the basic fact that juicing deters intake which alters the typical level of metabolism we have. Juicing unfortunately slows down metabolism. If such happens, one can expect its negative effects which is faster weight gain.

Lastly, bear in mind that fruit or vegetable is best eaten in its original state. When these fruits and vegetables are subjected to juicing, some components of the fruit or vegetable is stripped off or taken away. We still enjoy the fruit or vegetable with its nutrients. Sadly, we enjoy it with a little less than its usual benefit.
